The big Carp Out attracted thousands to the shores of Lake Burley Griffin again this year.  A record of 2,000 plus registered.  Biggest catch of the day was nearly 9.4 kgs (see photo below).

Congratulations to the Canberra Fisherman's Club for organising the event with strong support coming from a host of partners and sponsors including Tackle World, Wet Spot Water Sports, Capital Chemists, MIX106.3, the Good Guys, Charlie carp, Canberra Festival, Long Park Meat Co, Ankina Coffee, Aussie Fish and lots, lots more.

ANU Green took the carp away to turn them into fertiliser.

With the support of the organisers, RiverSmart used the event to seek  community help with the development of a regional carp reduction plan.  500 blue buckets went home with participants full of info about the project and how to 'reduce your river footprint'.  Those who see big groups of carp are asked to let us know via email  - see the link below to our contact page.

Great to see lots and lots of people getting involved

A great sight !  Carp and red fin no longer interfering with the ecology of the lake or its native fish.

By days' end there were blue buckets everywhere !
